Objectives
The objective of the conference is to capture and share best practice in designing and implementing fit-for-purpose education and training for Data Science professionals.
In order to achieve this we have broken down the process into four discrete phases:
- Recruitment
- Design
- Implementation
- Professional pathways
These four topics will be addressed in four separate sessions. Each session will be initiated with a short talk from a practitioner with real-world experience in tackling the challenge. The session will then allow others to share their experiences and ideas in order to capture key challenges and best practice.

Strategic goals for Twitter (and LinkedIn) messages:
- Raise profile of EDISON project: - @EdisonEU when tweeting
- Raise profile of champions of data science and data librarians - #DataChampions
Trigger specific discussions around:
Session 1 - course design
#data-syllabus - in use, e.g. for “looking at course content as data"
Session 2 - implementation
#data-teaching - in use, esp for discussion around implementation issues
Session 3 - marketing
#data-courses - in use and possibly best for us for discussion around marketing
Session 4 - Professional pathways: certification and accreditation
#data-professions (#data-profession is also in use, so be aware)
Also use the following when relevant:
-
#data-scientist
-
#datascience
-
#data-librarian
-
#data-curator
-
#data-steward
-
#data-expert
BUT for all of these there are 4 variations: singular/plural and with and without hyphen.
So don’t worry, but be aware.
